PRO TIPS
7 tips for natural-sounding AI narration
- Write for the ear, not the eye. Short sentences and everyday words sound far more human than long, formal paragraphs.
- Use punctuation as stage directions. Commas add short pauses, full stops add longer ones, and dashes create a natural break.
- Spell out tricky words. Write numbers, abbreviations and unusual names the way they should be spoken (for example, “twenty twenty-six”).
- Balance the stability setting. Lower values sound more expressive but less predictable; higher values are steady but can feel flat.
- Generate in small chunks. Work paragraph by paragraph so you can regenerate a weak line without redoing everything.
- Keep a voice “recipe”. Note the voice, model and settings you used so a series always sounds consistent.
- Always listen back. A quick edit — trimming gaps, levelling volume, adding light music — makes AI audio sound professional.
Use AI voices responsibly
AI voice technology is powerful, so it comes with responsibilities. Only clone voices you own or have clear written permission to use, never use AI audio to impersonate or mislead people, label AI-generated audio where platforms or laws require it, and always follow the terms of the tool you are using.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Is ElevenLabs free to use?
ElevenLabs offers a free plan with a limited monthly allowance, which is great for testing. Paid plans add more credits, commercial usage rights and advanced features like professional voice cloning. Plans and prices change, so always check the official pricing page before you buy.
Can I use ElevenLabs voices in monetised YouTube videos?
In general, commercial use requires a paid plan. Read the current ElevenLabs terms and the licence attached to the voice you choose, especially for community voices from the Voice Library.
How many languages does it support?
ElevenLabs supports dozens of languages and accents, and its newer models keep adding more. Quality can vary between languages, so test a short sample first.
Is voice cloning legal?
Cloning your own voice — or a voice you have explicit permission to use — is generally fine. Cloning someone else’s voice without consent can break the law and the platform’s rules. When in doubt, don’t.
How do I make the voice sound less robotic?
Write conversational scripts, use punctuation to guide pacing, try a few different voices and experiment with the stability and style settings. Our tips section above is a great starting point.
Is this the official ElevenLabs website?
No. ElevenLabsAIVoice.com is an independent educational website. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by ElevenLabs. For account or billing help, please contact ElevenLabs directly through their official website.
